Freestyle Dance Centre has classes in jazz, ballet, pointe, modern, lyrical, tap, contemporary, hip-hop, acro, musical theatre, stretch and more. We have classes specially designed for children 2-4, as well as recreational and competitive classes. We have classes and programs for every dancer, including advanced ballet and beginner teenagers at our expanded Abbotsford dance studio.
All students learn a dance and perform in costume at the year-end show held at the Abbey Arts Centre.
Our Ballet Program is based on the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus. Students train for they own enjoyment or work toward a presentation or examination. A minimum of 2 hours a week of ballet is required for examinations. Vocational exams and pointe classes are offered to more advanced dancers. All levels offered: Pre-Primary-Grade Five and Intermediate Foundation – Advanced Two.
Our Tiny Dance is designed to teach young children basic positions and movements in dance in an imaginative and fun setting. Classes are structured and fun! Watch for special event weeks!
The Recreational Program is a fun way for students to explore jazz, hip hop, ballet, tap, musical theatre and acrobatics. The students learn basic technique toward the choreography of a group dance. Special events add to the friendship and fun.
The Competition Program is a fun way for students to achieve high standards of dance and explore additional performance settings, including a February show, competitions, and community performances. A minimum number of classes must be taken including ballet. A high level of commitment is expected. Entrance is by studio director acceptance only.
The Teen Competition Program is a fun way for teens to explore additional performance settings. This program is designed for teens new to competition and as an alternative to the FreeStyle Company Class. A minimum of three classes is required.
The Junior Company and Company Program is Freestyle Dance Centre’s most senior level dance program. Students are carefully coached in ballet exams, solo performance, competition, and vocational goals of performance and teaching. Classes are offered in Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Modern, Tap, Ballet, Acro, Stretch and Musical Theatre. Travel and master classes are also offered. Much effort is spent in developing the individual talents of dancers, as well as strong skills in teamwork. Continued membership is dependent on physical and emotional readiness for the program, excellent attendance and organization, and good citizenship.
